Jamie Spirakes:
Creative Movement, Modern, Pre-Ballet and Ballet
For more than a decade, Jamie Spirakes has been teaching Creative Movement, Ballet, and Modern classes throughout Chicago and the suburbs, as well as arts integration classes in Chicago Public Schools. Jamie believes through movement, music, and art, children learn skills that go beyond the classroom. Her teaching philosophy encourages children to use their imagination, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. In each class, Jamie incorporates her teaching philosophy, while facilitating students to gain a deeper knowledge and appreciation of dance.
Academically, Jamie graduated with Honors from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance and is currently finishing her Master’s program from DePaul University. She has performed works by internationally renowned choreographers such as Bebe Miller, Daryl Jones, Joe Goode, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, just to name a few. Jamie was also chosen to perform at the American College Dance festival. She also has choreographed original works that have been performed at Columbia College Chicago and Links Hall in Chicago. Jamie loves to share her passion for the art of dance with the students of Dance Gallery.
